A great wave of generosity underlined the 18th annual conference of Carrossier ProColor, a member of CSN Collision Centres, the largest network of collision repair facilities in Canada, held April 25th to 27th at the Hilton Quebec under the theme ‘Shoot for the Stars’.
As the ‘Shoot for the Stars’ saying implies, the banner decided to emphasize the importance of seeing big and striving for excellence. Comparing the theme with the management of a business, the conference itinerary was based on the importance of always aiming for the best and seeing further. For collision repair centres, this implies following the evolution of the market, embracing changes and being motivated to achieve the objectives of Carrossier ProColor.
“In addition to the pleasure of meeting delegates and having them with us, their presence was an encouragement and a real reward. Nearly 500 of them attended this event, which is so important to us, and their enthusiasm has made this conference a success that has exceeded our expectations “says Michel Charbonneau, Vice President, Sales, Uni-Select.
The conference, which was hosted by Mario Tessier, began on April 25 with a vendor showcase which allowed participants to visit the network’s recommended suppliers’ kiosks and exchange with industry peers. The first day ended with participants succumbing with laughter thanks to the acts of Mario Tessier, Patrick Groulx, and Sébastien Haché, who performed the opening act for Patrick Groulx.
Friday, April 26, was dedicated to conferences. Carrossier ProColor’s management presented updates of the organization and its main orientations. Three speakers were also invited: Gino Gauthier, PPG Regional Director, presented their new mobile application, followed by Patrick Piché, Akzo Nobel Canada East Consultant Service, who spoke about the 8 keys for body shop management and finally, Carol Allain, author, speaker and international instructor, who elaborated with great humour on “La motivation humaine, une attitude! “. The meeting portion of the conference ended with the recognition of collision centres celebrating their 5, 10 and 15 years anniversary as members of the Carrossier ProColor network.
As a follow-up to the conferences, a significant event was held to demonstrate our unwavering support for the Children’s Wish Foundation. The Carrossier ProColor network along with its supplier partners, PPG and Uniparts O.E.M., decided to get involved with the King Jay campaign, supported by the Children’s Wish Foundation, which commemorates Jayden, a young man who died of cancer in 2017. Jayden was the 25,000th wish of the Children’s Wish Foundation and his wish was to offer another 25,000 wishes through the sale of clothes bearing his name. The delegates received a King Jay t-shirt as a welcoming present and they immortalized this magical moment with a photo group.
The day continued with the gala on Friday evening where delegates were invited to wear their best outfits for the occasion. During the evening, the new Operational Excellence Award was given to two groups of body shops: collision centres with a volume of less than 1.5 million and collision centres with a volume of more than 1.5 million. Three winners were assigned in each category for the gold, silver and bronze trophy.
The gala continued with the traditional fundraising activity for the charities supported by the network, of which the Children’s Wish Foundation is one of the main causes. Year after year, the fundraising is an extraordinary success and this year, thanks to the generous contribution of the participants, a record sum of $ 103,600 was raised. A new cause has been added this year in loving memory of Johanne Blain, who has worked in the industry for many years and recently passed away. “The Carrossier ProColor network wishes to offer a sum of money to Maison Adhémar-Dion to thank the staff for their good care and encourage them to continue their good work” says Michel Charbonneau, Vice President, Sales – Uni-Select Canada.
To conclude the 2019 Annual Conference in style, participants had the opportunity to dance to the Boogie Wonder Band and DJ Majess and satisfy their late-night cravings at the midnight buffet featuring poutine and candy bar.
